French pro skier and rally driver Guerlain Chicherit crashed his car on Tuesday in Tignes, France, while attempting to break the world record for longest car ramp jump. Chicherit, 35, walked away from the crash but was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

"I have to stay [in] the hospital for the night just for safety. I'm all OK," he wrote on Facebook after the incident.

Chicherit was driving an adapted Mini on a ramp built specifically for the record attempt. The jump took place at the base of the ski area in Tignes, where Chicherit is from and the site of X Games Tignes from 2010 to 2013. After taking off the ramp, his car dove down and flipped several times upon landing.

According to a statement posted on his Facebook page, "Guerlain is doing good and has already reviewed video footage of the jump to see what went wrong. He got out of the car himself, slightly injured, and will now get a precautionary MRI to check that everything is fine."

The record for longest ramp jump in a four-wheeled vehicle is 332 feet, set by rally driver and three-time X Games RallyCross gold medalist Tanner Foust on May 30, 2011, at the Indianapolis 500. Chicherit was aiming for a jump of 360 feet. His record attempt was originally scheduled for last Sunday, but foggy weather delayed the event until Tuesday.
